You can create a rich stone background for your Web site by following a few simple steps. Open a new image that's 200 x 200 pixels. Next, click on the Foreground Color box in the Color Palette, and choose a color for your stone. Click on the Flood Fill tool in the Tool Palette, and then click it onto your image to fill it with color. Add a new Raster layer (when the dialog box pops up, just click OK). Flood Fill this layer with the same color, so that you have a background and a layer both the same color. Click on the Image menu and choose Noise, Add. When the Add Noise dialog box opens, choose Uniform, % Of Noise 100, and click OK. Finally, from the Layer Palette, change the Blend Mode of Layer 1 to Luminance. There you have it--a stone texture.
